Walter Dexel [1890-1973]. An outstanding representative artist of constructivism in german art of 20s. He was an art history student of Heinrich Wolfflin. He also learned at drawing school in Munich. He traveled to Italy in years 1912-13 as a photographer, inspired by Paul Cezanne's works. In 1914 he had his first individual exhibition in Munich, he presented photographs inspired by cubistic art. Except cubism he was also inspired by expressionism. In 1916, Dexel defended his doctorate at University in Jena. In the same year he become a director of Jeanner Kunstverein exhibition. He performed this function to 1928. In this years he organised exhibitions of german expressionists and members of Bauhaus design school. In 1926 he settled in Frankfurt am Main where he was an advertisment designer. From 1927 he worked for WMF manufacture, where he designed glass pottery.
